Grand Master Geoffrey R. Spohn

Tatsu Te Ryu Karate

Hanshi Geoffrey R. Spohn has Over 40 years training and teaching experience in the martial arts.  He began his journey, pursuit, and study of martial arts in 1982 in the art karate.  As a child he was taught the fundamentals of karate and after earning his black belt, he knew that he was going to dedicate his life to the practice of the martial arts.  Since that time, Spohn has proven to be a fierce practitioner, training and studying multiple disciplines.

Currently, he is studying under the leadership of Hanshi Robert Handley in the art of Shotokan Karate-Do, under Hanshi Darel Chase in the disciplines of Sentou Ryu Aikijujitsu, Goshinjutsu, Shorin Ryu Karate-Do, and is training with Dr. Donald Miskel in the art of Black Lotus Kempo Ryu Jujutsu.

Spohn is the Headmaster and Kaiso of Tatsu Te Ryu Karate Systems, a modern, blended system/style/ryu-ha of Budo, which consists of a blending of various styles that he has trained. Spohn is also the Kaicho (President) of the Intercontinental Martial Arts Union.

As an instructor, Spohn believes in a principled approach to martial arts, which includes the development of personal character as well as physical strength.  His primary teaching goals are to motivate and inspire his students to be the best that they can be, while instilling respect, confidence, effective self-defense, and discipline.

His passion for the martial arts is apparent in every class he teaches.  His ability to reach children and adults alike has given him the opportunity to be a positive influence in the lives of many.

Tactical Knife

Mark Hawley has been in the martial arts' world for nearly fifty years; in that time he has graduated college, became a Soke Dai, and Shihan, been inducted into the martial arts hall of fame (IMAC) and raised an extremely large family. He has written and published one book and is working on another, has been married happily to the same woman for thirty odd years, and has recently joined the Chun Ji Do international martial arts organization. Sensei Mark Hawley (as he prefers to be called) studies any and all martial arts fervently and will continue to study at a ravenous pace.

Founder of Atavism

DaShifu Bob Dergrasse

Shou Shu Kung Fu

Over half a century of dedicated training has shaped DaShifu Bob DeGrasse, a lifelong devotee to the Martial Arts and self-refinement. However, his journey, beginning with Kenpo, took a transformative turn in 1977 with his introduction to Shou Shu in Modesto, California. Under the Direct tutelage of Al Moore Sr. and Jr., he meticulously mastered the seven (Beasts) animal forms—Bear, Tiger, Mongoose, Crane, Mantis, Cobra, and Dragon—earning the mantle of Grand Master. Beyond his own mastery, he finds his purpose in guiding others, witnessing their growth with profound satisfaction. Now in New Mexico, his exploration of the arts continues, as he has dabbled in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and brought on a renewed dedication to refining the depth of his knowledge of Kenpo Karate. While he has achieved the rank of Grand Master, DaShifu Degrasse is a lifelong student of the arts.

Master Austin Norris

North House Kenpo (Weapons)

Mr. Norris found his interest in Martial Arts in the early 2000s when he began his training in Kenpo under Master Greg Cole in Bosque Farms, New Mexico. Shortly after testing for his Black Belt, he let his fascination with weapons drive him to begin creating a unique weapons program centered around the staple concepts of Kenpo. In 2019, following almost a decade of planning and development, he founded the North House Kenpo Organization whose primary goal was to deliver an expansive, supplemental system for others to learn and share. Currently, Mr. Norris has several schools chartered under his program, teaching the N.H.K material alongside their own open-handed platforms. Mr. Norris currently holds a 5th Dan in North House Kenpo, a 4th Dan in American Kenpo, a 2nd Dan in Shotokan, and a 1st Dan in Traditional Japanese Kodubo. His love for traditional weaponry drives him to continue to research and hone his curriculum amongst the companionship of his fellow martial artists.

Sensei Rebecca Fusselman

Practical Woman's Self-Defense  Concepts

Sensei Becca began her karate journey in the Rosales Kajukenbo system in 2011. Though it was initially a reluctant start, she quickly fell in love with martial arts. Over the years she studied and trained, earning her black belt and the title of “Sibak” in the Kajukenbo system in March of 2023, while cross-training In Shinja Kenpo Karate. Through her call to serve God and serve others, she was led into the Christian Karate Ministry, where she seeks to support her husband and honor God through the teaching of martial arts.

Professor Matthew McCormick

Brazillian Jiu Jutsu

Professor Matt's journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu began in 2013, and over the years, his growth as a martial artist has been marked by an unshakable dedication and passion for the art. His pursuit of mastery is not just about the techniques but about developing a deeper understanding of the body, mind, and spirit. Earning his black belt in November 2022 from Master Carlos Gracie Jr. and Professor Tammy Griego was a testament to his hard work, but his true strength lies in his role as a mentor.
Professor Matt’s approach to teaching is grounded in empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others succeed. He doesn’t just show students how to perform techniques—he helps them understand the purpose behind every movement and challenge, inspiring confidence and resilience. His leadership isn’t defined by his rank but by his ability to connect with each individual, guiding them not only on their journey in BJJ but also in life.
Known for his calm demeanor, discipline, and unwavering commitment, Professor Matt is the kind of mentor who leads by example. Whether he’s teaching a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, he always approaches every class with humility and a thirst for continued growth, proving that the path of the martial artist is one of lifelong learning.
